Wow...Its hard to believe that I have been here for almost a month in a half!!!!!!Ok so the new DTS school started on September 12,there are about 27 students all together. So as I have said before I work in the kitchen....sometimes its a little tough to cook for 60 people on an average day,but sometimes we have to cook for the secondary school (sbfm) school of biblical foundations and missions. So on an day when all staff and both schools are together I cook for about 90 to 100 people!!!!
Ok, like I said there are about 27 students in this school. So they have been here for two weeks but have only had a week of lecture. On Tuesday nights the students have intercession(prayer) from 6pm to 7pm then lecture from 7pm to 9/930pm....So this past Tuesday I sat in on their lecture and totally got the vibe that God was going to reveal big eye openers to them, also that this school is going to have a great effect on the nations when they go to their outreach locations.Right now this school is so hungry and eager to learn more about the bible and how to grow in their faith. The students in this dts school come from five different nations:Canada,Switzerland,Sweden,Norway and The States.I love the fact that I get to meet people from all over the worlds..I am thankful to be part of this YWAM base. The students here will go threw 12 weeks of lecture then about 2 months of outreach in one of the following nations:Nepal,China or Indonesia. This past week the students learned where they will be going on outreach and who their leaders are...Lets just say that they are super pumped to be going on outreach at the beginning of December.
So for the next three months which equals one quarter I as you already know will be in the kitchen,I will also have the chance to sit in one some of the lecture depending on my work schedule. Here is a glance at my schedule:Monday 9:30am-2pm so I help make lunch and clean up after lunch, that means dishes, pots and pans,leftovers..if there is any, sweeping, putting tables away(our lunch area is also a family room and a lecture hall),and making sure that the trash gets taken out so that we dont have to deal with maggots!!!!Ewww gross I know! Then from 5:45pm-6:45pm we have house cleaning..boys vs girls!Tuesday and Wednesday 3pm-7pm so that means that I make dinner and clean up as well.Thursday 9:30am-2pm so make and clean up lunch again.Friday 6:15am-12:30pm So I have to make and clean up breakfast then help make lunch with to other kitchen workers.Dont worry I dont work straight from those hours,we have base worship from 8am-9am so we leave the base and go to a local church at 7:45am and usually leave the church around 9:20am or so.So like I said I do have a chance to sit in on some lecture usually on Tuesday or Wednesday because lecture is from 10am-12:30pm.At the end of this quarter I hope to Head back home for a 2 week vacation for Christmas...since I was on outreach in Bangladesh last Christmas...And if you ask me what we did I can tell you everything we did for Christmas eve and Christmas day!I would love to be able to come back home for a little bit, since I do have a 2 year commitment out here in Maui.
Please please please dont say "Oh it must be hard living there in Maui huh?"Its not just fun and games here.other then living in a house with about 30 other girls,I also live with Cockroaches,Cain Spiders and Rats...Not exactly what you were thinking right? And if we do want to go to the beach we have to drive for about 15 minutes to Paia where it doesnt rain as much as Haiku.Yes we get rain in Haiku...usually on a daily basis, but I will say that if it does rain it usually rain for maybe 30 mins all day.You might think Im crazy but I actually do miss the Seattle rain sometimes!!!!Other then what you have read above I got to a Friday night church over in Kihei,I got to church on Sundays as well at the local church we have base worship at,that church is called Hope Chapel North Shore(HCNS).Then on Saturdays is our actual day off, most of us usually hang out in Paia, then play soccer at 4pm...We do that every Saturday.I also love the fact that during the week days I am able to hang out and get to know the dts students more,I can also be there for them to talk to during my off hours.I can also help explain some of outreach and any lecture phase questions that they may have...I love the fact that I get to pour into someone else's life, which can also lead to helping them and the people in the nations when they are on outreach.
If you have any other questions about me being on staff or just any other questions in general feel free to ask!

back in Maui
Wow it's hard to believe that I have been here in Maui for 2 weeks!!!!It kinda feels like I had never left.I arrived here after a great plane ride....I was the only person on the plane to have 3 seats to myself, amazing right?!Some of the guys from the base came and got me from the airport, along with three other people who were arriving around the same time as I.The day after I arrived so the 19th I had orientation.I work in the kitchen,I didn't start working in the kitchen till the 21st because I had a couple days off at first. So the students left for outreach a week ago on Monday. They will all be in Thailand for a bit and then headed to Borneo and Bangladesh for their main part of outreach.
So us staff members have been playing games.Lately we have been playing the game "murder in the dark" its just like mafia, but we actually are towns people or the mafia so it's real life...so much fun!We also have had a staff conference the past couple days, for about the first three hours we are in a classroom/really conference setting...then after lunch for a few hours we have activities, like today we had a three lagged race and played on a slip n slide. This staff conference is so that all of the staff get get to know each other and to really seek God about the direction of this incoming school.During our conference today we learned that next year so 2010,is the 50th anniversary of YWAM.For this celebration they have asked that everyone memorize Philippians 1:27-2:18 in their native tongue. We are all so excited to be apart of this celebration...But for now we are all also trying to get rested up for the next school that starts Sept 12th.We all know that we need rest because this next school is big...around 30 students.I hope all is going well with you guys back at home!!!

I'm home!!!!!!
So the first thing I wanted to say is that I am Safely back in maui, and the other thing that I wanted to say is sorry for not updating my blog while on outreach.I had no time to update my blog while in Bangladesh.During my last week here in Maui we will have debriefing, one day of lecture, team dinners, testimony night and Grad.Let me just say that it is nice to be back in America.
Im not even going to try to describe Bangladesh because you want be able to understand, but I will try to describe it when I am talkin about it at church or if you just hang out with me.I will have another blog up soon!Tuesday, December 9, 2008
update before outreach
Ok so my team leaves for outreach Wednesday morning at 4am,so that's 6 hours from now.So I'm not a big fan of good-byes because they just suck!!!We are all ready to go but it would be better if everybody who is here at the moment would be here when we get back from outreach.I know that Im going to have a blast on outreach but these past 3 months have flown by so fast!!!!I don't want to say good-bye because I know that after I do I won't see some of these people ever again.I'm really going to miss some of the students from the secondary school SBFM.
Prayers:Safe travel for all(dts students, staff that will be leaving, staff going home for Christmas, mission builders),Staying focused on why we are goin on outreach,rest/no stress for our leaders,Tara(student)she has Mono and is sick.

week before outreach
So we leave a week from today...we are all ready to leave and yet out there!!!!We are going to go to Bangkok first, long day of travel no joke.We fly from Maui to Honolulu,Honolulu to Tokyo,Tokyo to Taipei, then Taipei to Bangkok;with layovers everywhere!!!We are so excited to go to Bangkok,I'm also excited for Amazing Thai food!I'm not sure what we will be doing there, but I think that we might work with the MST.
This week are lecture is on World Religions and Cults, with Dr.Ron Carlson. He really knows his stuff!!!He has been to 79 different countries,He has also been to Canyon Hills Church just down the street from Northlake.Monday morning was just an overview of what to expect and Monday night was about Evolution, how to prove that it is false.Tuesday was about Jehovah's Witnesses and the Trinity.Today we learned about Mormonism/how to crack their Q's and open their eyes to turn to Christ. If possible Northlake should try to get him as a guest speaker because Ron is just amazingly smart and easy to listen to.
I will write at least one more blog before I leave for outreach in a week!Hope all is well miss and love you guys!!!

Overview of week and a half
OK let's see if I can remember everything...So last Thursday we had night lecture which means after growth group we have free day.So for growth group all the teams got together and we all went to Iow Valley. There were probably about twelve of us that got Baptized, yes I got Baptized.Friday, what can I say excepted everyone loves Fridays. There were a few of us who watch Lord of the Rings 2,that was fun.Saturday was also great,we had a surprise b-day party for our base director Tom.Sunday went to church and after church we went an a boat, all of us DTS and SBFM students, that was a blast...felt like I was on vacation.
This week our lecture topic was Holy Spirit might I say it was my most favorite week, and the week that I have just been waiting for!!Our teacher was Amy Sollars she is staff at the Kona base, she's amazing hands down.Ok so on Mondays we have lecture in the morning and at night, morning lecture just consisted of getting to know Amy and her story, night lecture we had the choice if we wanted to to get baptized by the Holy Spirit. That night was just crazy amazing.I feel like back at home we don't really talk or engage in the Holy Spirit when we should because he is just as important as God and Jesus because he is the third part of the Godhead. All of us who participated on Monday night were in the zone,we were so focused and wanting to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit that nothing in the room or in the room even mattered at the moment. We waited listened to music and felt the Holy Spirit bring his presence to us,he had complete control over our night lecture. He had so much control that the others and myself included just started to shake and lose control over our bodies.I have never experienced anything like that before.I had control over my legs, which means that the Holy Spirit had control over the upper half of my body.It was the coolest thing I have ever experienced in my life before. The whole week was just amazing and we could all feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. So once again Thursday night lecture rolls around,it was quite the experience once again. So you know how on tv how people are getting Prophesied over and they fall backwards and ppl catch them and put them on the ground, well thats exactly what happened to us no joke.It was crazy I always thought that stuff was fake and only on tv,but it's not cause it happened to me.
We only have 8 lecture days left,so 10 lectures. This week we only have lecture Mon-Wed because of Thanksgiving. We leave for outreach on Dec 10th,so about 2 and a half weeks from today, which is hard to believe!!!It's hard to believe because some of the ppl at this base who have become my Ohana (family) I might not ever see again after I leave for outreach:(
Prayers:Our school is still paying fees and all the money is due on Dec 1st or some ppl might not be going on Outreach,as a whole my school needs around $20,000 still, prayers for that would be amazing.Safety while traveling all of us are headed to Bangkok first then after a week there we will part our ways for our outreach locations. Also our DTS staff works so hard that it can get a little stressful sometimes, pray that they won't get to tired or worn out by all that they do.
Hope to have some new picture up soon!!!
